Newmarket Basement Renovation

This Newmarket basement renovation started out with the demolition of what was built by the previous owners of the house. After we demolished the old stuff and took it to the bin we had our insulation and framing done. The client wanted 1 bedroom, washroom,  storage room and a kitchen/living room. After framing we added safe and sound rigid insulation into the ceilings and added resilient channels for greater sound proofing. We then proceeded with the electrical rough in and the plumbing rough in.

After dry walling and plaster work we then primed and painted the place with Premium Benjamin Moore paints. For the washroom paint we always use a special bath and spa paint for high moisture areas. We then proceeded to add Dricore subfloor with and insulated bottom to make the flooring much warmer and comfortable to walk on. Clients chose a beautiful wide vinyl plank for the flooring. The stairs where also a vinyl step capping.

For the washroom we did a big custom shower with a shampoo niche. Red Guard Water Proofing was used on the walls to water proof . The shower base was done with a gray marble herring bone mosaic tile. For the walls and washroom floors we used a 24 inch X 24 inch off white tile with gray veins. The shower glass was a custom glass done by our guys at ARM Glass . The glass was done with black hinges, handle and towel rack To match the shower faucet and black accent theme throughout the washroom.

The kitchen was a bit different because one of the basement windows was in the way, so we had to work around it and add shelves under it instead of upper cabinet units. We did a L-shaped kitchen with a flat white cabinet door. The handles where the black accent for the kitchen. White quartz counter top with gray veins and a white/gray subway style tile laid in a brick pattern. Overall this Newmarket basement renovation ended up a beautiful finished basement, with a custom kitchen, custom washroom and lots of storage.
